All teaching methods of foreign languages have been developped on the basis of visual materials and it is very difficult to adapt them, especially for students who cannot see at all. Methods for the very beginners are the worse in that respect.
Methods for the intermediate and advanced levels, when the more intellectual aspects of the language can play a role, can still be very tricky. Hence our project "How to teach visually impaired persons to speak a foreign language?"
Bob Marek - University of Lublin in Poland - has developed a methodology in teaching foreign languages to visually impaired students: he will be in charge of this seminar. But this seminar will also and certainly be designed to be a time together for all of us - teachers of languages and educational psychologists specialised in visual impairment - to share our professional experience and practice, since creativity will be borne out of the multiplicity and the diversity of the contributions!
